Veteran trad Jazz musicians Mike Daugherty and Alex Guilbert formed T.O.P. Jazz Band thanks to their shared infatuation with the immediacy and raw energy of the earliest of Jazz recordings. Joined by a collection of the most swinging horn players in Seattle, this young band has been driving dancers and delighting audiences in the Puget Sound region for over two years, and is always expanding its repertoire and reach. Fueled by Guilbert’s stride piano and Daugherty’s driving washboard, drums and vocals, this music has one foot in the country, one in the city, much like the classic early recordings of Johnny Dodds, Jimmy O’Bryant and Jabbo Smith.
